Nah You Seok

도자는 저에게 표현을 위한 도구 입니다. 마치 화가가 물감으로 그림을 그리 듯 저 역시 도자로 표현하고 있습니다. 그 표현의 내용은 저와 타인의 관계입니다. 제가 존재함은 제 옆에 다른 누군가가 있어 가능합니다. 저는 다른 누군가와 다름으로 분명해지고 서로 간의 비슷함으로 선명해집니다. 함께 있어 '나' 일수 있고 '우리'일 수 있음을 작업으로 보여주려 합니다. 그래서 저는 '반의' '동의' '다의' 라는 언어의 분류체계로 작품들을 구분합니다.

그리고 흙과 불의 예술인 도자의 도움으로 그것들을 구현하고자 노력합니다. 그래서 저의 작업은 도자가 아니면 안됩니다.반드시 도자기여야만 합니다. 그렇게 꽤 오랜시간 도자와 제 생각의 접점을 찾기 위해 고민해 왔습니다. 앞으로도 이 고민은 작업과 함께 이어질 겁니다.

To me, pottery is a tool for expression. As if an artist is painting with paint, I am also expressing it with ceramics. The content of that expression is my relationship with others. My existence is possible because someone else is next to me. I become clear as someone else, and I become clear as something else, and I want to show you through my work that it can be me and it can be us. So I separate the works by classification of the languages 'disagreement', 'consent', and 'multi-intention'.


And I try to embody them with the help of pottery, the art of soil and fire. So my work has to be ceramics. It has to be ceramics. I've been thinking about finding a point of contact between ceramics and my thoughts for quite some time. And that will continue with my work.
