우리는 모두 다른 모습 그리고 다른 생각으로 함께 어울려 살아갑니다. 그 모습이 마치 도자기의 연리문 기법과 닮았습니다. 흙도 사람처럼 그 성질, 그러니까 기질이 서로 다릅니다. 만약 동일한 흙으로만 작업을 한다면 좀 더 편한 작업이 될 수도 있을 것 입니다. 하지만 연리문 기법을 이용한 무늬를 만들기 위해 굳이 기질이 서로 다른 흙을 사용하게 되면 수축율도 다르고 가마의 소성 온도도 차이가 생깁니다. 그러나 그런 차이가 색의 차이를 만들고 그릇이라는 쓰임이 있는 물건 안에서 새로운 표면이 만들어집니다. 서로 다름을 인정하고 수용할 수 있는 아름다운 관용이 미덕인 사회처럼 도자기 안에 공생하기를 기대하면서 저는 연리문 도자 작업으로 표현하고 있습니다.

We all live together in harmony with different aspects and different ideas. Its appearance resembles the lotus gate technique of pottery. Like humans, soil has different properties and substrates. It might be a more convenient task if you only work with the same soil. However, if you use soil with different substrates to make patterns using the lotus gate technique, the shrinkage rate and the firing temperature of the kiln will differ. However, such a difference in color makes a difference, and a new surface is created inside the object that is used as a vessel. I express it through the lotus gate ceramic work in anticipation of symbiosis in ceramics, like a society where beautiful tolerance to admit and accept differences is a virtue.
