23년 전 일본으로 건너가 한지라는 물성에 대해 깊은 연구 후,

한지 설치 미술과 공예 미술의 경계에서고유한 미감을 선보이고 있는

고소미 작가. 그는 한지를 단순한 전통 소재로만 보지 않는다.

현대적인 맥락에서 재료를 재해석하고 확장시키는 작업을 통해

한지의 무한한 가능성과 예술적 가치를 지속적으로 탐구하는 중이다.

특히 작가는 사람, 지역, 자연 모든 곳에서 '흔적'을 더듬어가는 것으로부터

모든 작업을 시작하고 있다.

Twenty-three years ago, artist Gosomi relocated to Japan, where she began an in-depth exploration of the materiality of hanji.

Since then, she has presented a distinctive aesthetic at the intersection of installation art and craft, working primarily with this

Korean paper. She does not regard hanji merely as a conventional material; rather, she continuously reinterprets and expands

its possibilities within a contemporary context, investigating its limitless potential and artistic value. Gosomi begins each body of work by tracing “imprints” found in people, places, and nature.

Artist Nahyouseok has continued a practice that treats clay

as both medium and surface,

layering time and emotion through repetitive brushwork

and the firing process. The act of refilling surfaces t

hat have cracked and fragmented after firing with liquid clay serves as a metaphor for wounds and recovery, brought to completion through a performative attitude.

Through the series Synonym, Antonym, and Polysemy,

he sculpturally explores the tension and harmony

within human relationships and spatial dynamics, grounded in an aesthetic of balance and interval discovered in nature.

Through the series 'Yeonri', artist Yunhee Shin explores the texture of relationships formed through

the encounter of different beings. Drawing inspiration from the traditional ceramic technique of yeonrimun,

she arranges and blends clays of varying colors and properties to create new patterns.

Clay is not a material but a medium that symbolizes the interweaving and coexistence of different thoughts and lives.

Through the materiality and grain formed by the mingling of clay, she articulates through sculptural language,

the harmony and meaning of relationships that emerge from difference.

Gosomi is a contemporary artist who poetically explores light, space, and the passage of time through traditional materials such as hanji and hemp fabric.

Her practice moves fluidly across the boundaries of installation, craft, and textile art, revealing the subtle beauty of traces, absence, and memory embedded in everyday life.

Artist Nah Youseok explores painterly thinking through the medium of ceramics. Expanding clay beyond its traditional role within craft,

he employs it as a sculptural language through which compositional structure, color, and the movement of gaze—elements often associated with

Western painting—are translated onto a three-dimensional surface. His practice includes sculptural objects and ceramic wall works, examining

the relationship between the materiality of clay and the pictorial qualities of a surface.

Through repetitive brushwork and firing processes, Na accumulates layers of time and emotion. After firing, cracked or fragmented

surfaces are often filled again with slip, a performative gesture that metaphorically reflects cycles of rupture and recovery.
